Morris Fire Department Celebrates 125 Years.

The Morris Fire Department (Est. 1890) will be celebrating the departments 125th Anniversary this July in conjunction with the local Morris Annual Prairie Pioneer Days celebration.  The scheduled events will take place July 8th – July 12th, 2015.

The celebration kicks off with “Kids” Water Wars prior to the annual Firefighters Water Fights on Wednesday afternoon July 8th.  This event will be held on Oregon Ave. between 5th & 6th St. as always.  Start times will be posted. 

Thursday July 9th The Stevens County Museum will be host to “Firefighter Night at the Museum” on this evening the museum will kick off the featured display, a look at 125 years of fire fighting in rural Minnesota.  Fire Fighters will be treated to an invite only showing this evening.  The display will be shown through out the weekend for everyone to see. 

Friday July 10th, the 125th Grand Banquet will be held for the current, retired members of the fire department and special guests.  The banquet will include the University of Minnesota Morris documentary about the Morris Fire Department and a fire departments journey for 125 years. 

Saturday July 11th brings an “Open House” at the Morris Fire Station.  There will be many fun things to do for kids during this open house.  Featured items include the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Assoc. Hop House, various demonstrations, video’s, handouts, fire truck rides, lunch & beverages and much more. 

Saturday evening is “Firefighter Night” at Rock the Groundz…..A live band-camping event held at the Stevens County Fair Grounds.  All area firefighters receive free admission to this event in honor of the 125th Anniversary.  Everyone is invited to come join in the celebration.  During the Rock the Groundz event there will be the annual fire works display that will surly be a crowd pleaser.
  
Sunday July 12th brings the Firefighters Annual Pancake feed at the fire station from 8:00 am – 1:00pm.  Following is the Grand Parade that afternoon at 3:00pm.  Many fire trucks are scheduled to partake in this years parade.  After that, back to the fire station for the FREE community picnic and anniversary celebration from 4:30 – 7:00.
 
To end the day the Morris Fire Relief Assoc. will be drawing for the Morris Fire Department “Fire Bike”.  One lucky winner will win choice of a restored custom built 2011 Harley Davidson Motorcycle or $10,000.00.

The Morris Fire Relief Association asks that everyone keep July 8th – 12th open and partake in Prairie Pioneer Days / Morris Fire Dept’s 125th Anniversary.
